Update the Firmware for a Windows Phone 7 or 7.5

Advisory:
On January 30th 2013, Microsoft and Nokia will begin rolling out the Windows Phone 7.8 update for the Nokia Lumia 900. This update includes multiple enhancements and updates, including the following:

• Quality and Security Enhancements
• Updated Start screen with new Tile size options
• New theme colors and Bing Image of the Day Lock Screen Option
• Improved Lock Screen accidental wipe protection
• Marketplace Enhancements

A new version of the Zune desktop software is also being released. Most users will need to update their Zune software before they are able to update their phone. Refer to the instructions below to guide you through the update processes.

Please note that update availability will be staggered at the beginning. If you have not received the update notification, please check again at a later date.

Instructions:

AT&T and Microsoft have released software updates for the following Windows Phone devices:

• HTC HD7S
• HTC Surround
• LG Quantum
• Nokia Lumia 900
• Samsung Focus
• Samsung Focus S
• Samsung Focus Flash

These updates may include additional features and improvements or important bug fixes. AT&T recommends all users update their devices to the latest available software version.

Prerequisite: Setup Zune software for Windows Phone 7

Procedure

1. Watch your phone for an update notification. Once the notification is received, you will be able to download and install the update.
     
2. Connect your phone to your PC via the included Micro USB cable.
• If the Zune desktop software is out of date, the "Update computer" screen will be displayed. Click Update now to update your Zune desktop software.
• 
3.  Once your phone is connected, the Zune desktop software will load, and you will begin installing the update.
   NOTE: If the update prompt is not displayed automatically, click Settings>Phone>Update to update your phone.
